About Drop Clean Buffers

The DBCC DROPCLEANBUFFERS command is used to clear the buffer cache of all pages that have been committed to disk. It's one of the steps you need to do before baselining the performance of a query. It's also a great metaphor for clearing the mind of all the cruft that has accumulated during the day. Writing is one way to do that. Once something is down on paper, I can more easily let it go. It's there later, if I need it. This blog is my professional outlet along those lines. I hope you enjoy it, and if you don't, at least I know where to find that DMV query I wrote last year...
